1. GOD SAYS THAT YOU CAN KNOW!
—1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; That ye may know that ye have eternal life.”
(Here God says that He has written certain “things” in the Bible so that you can know that you are saved. If you believe and obey God’s instructions (the “things” He has “written”) you can get saved and you will know it).
2.GOD’S WORD TELLS YOU HOW YOU CAN GET SAVED AND KNOW IT!
The Bible verse before the one you just read, says that you are saved if you have “the Son” (Jesus Christ) living inside of your very being.
—1 John 5:12, “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
(After He comes inside of you, then He will make you know for sure that you are saved).
(1) However, before you can receive “the Son” (the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ) you must admit that you are a sinner just like God says that we all are.
—Ecclesiastes 7:20, “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”
(2) also, you must admit that all your sins are truly evil because you committed then all in rebellion against God and against His holy law.
—Psalms 51:4, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight.”
(3) Next, you must admit that you deserve to be punished with spiritual death because of your sins.
—Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death.”
(The biblical word “wages” in this verse indicates that we all (I just like you) have earned and deserve punishment for what we have done [we have sinned]. The word “death” indicates what that punishment is that we deserve).
A.The first aspect of that spiritual death that you and I deserve is separation from God in this life.
—Isaiah 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
(Your sins are like a wall between you and God. They seperate you from God and His blessings in this life.)
B.The second aspect of the spiritual death that you and I deserve is punishment in hell after our physical death.
—Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
(That “second death” is the final and everlasting punishment that all the unrepentant and unsaved sinners will suffer after their physical death.)
(4) THEN, before you will want to receive “the Son,” you must know that God loves you and does not want you to suffer that “second death” (penalty for your sins). The Lord Jesus Christ has already taken your punishment as your substitute on the cross.
—Romans 5:6, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”
—Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us (including you), in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Jesus Christ died for you).”
—John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (including you) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
(5) Next, you must believe the Gospel (God’s good news for you) that Jesus Christ died for you, that He also arose from the dead and He is alive today and is able to save you.
—1 Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel . . . how that Christ died for our sins . . . And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day. . . .”
(6) FinalLy, to receive Jesus Christ you must believe that He wants to enter into you right now and save you and give you His “eternal life”—His very own life in the Person of His Holy Spirit. HE SAID:
—Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.”
3. GOD TELLS HOW TO RECEIVE CHRIST.
(1) FIRSt, to receive Christ You must REPENT (change your mind about your sins, because “the Son” is Holy, and cannot have anything to do with your sins.
Therefore, you must be willing to allow Him to take away all your sins and rebellion before He will come into you.
—Acts 17:30, “God . . . now commandeth all men every where to repent.”
(2) THEN, to receive Jesus Christ You must confess your sins to him and allow Him to take them ALL out of your life. Then you must ask Him to do so.
—1 John 1:9, “If we (including you) confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us (including you) our sins, and to cleanse us (including you) from all unrighteousness.”
(3) NEXT, to receive “the Son” you must do more than just believe all the truths about Jesus Christ.
—James 2:19, “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
(The devil knows the truth, but that does not save him. Your mental knowledge alone will not save you! You must literally become united with [spiritually joined unto] the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ, as a man and woman physically unite with each other in holy matrimony.
(Receiving “the Son” literally is surrendering you entire life to Jesus Christ and letting His Spirit come into your being to take complete control of you in order to become your new life.)
THEREFORE, if you are willing to exchange your old wicked life for the holy life of Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ will enter into you and save you NOW.
—John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
Please pray to God right now and totally SURRENDER your life to Him. Ask Him to save you and believe that He will. He is waiting to save you immediately.
—Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
After you receive Christ BY FAITH ALONE, then you will know that God has saved you, because then Christ’s Spirit within you will give you the very belief or trust in God’s promises that will make you know that you have “the Son” and are saved.
