THE CLEANSING GOSPEL

IN ORDER To be saved, it is not enough just to know and believe the truth of the gospel! You must personally appropriate it’s power.
First, You must admit that you have sinned against God and against His Holy Law.
Second, you must believe that you need to be saved and you must want to be.
Third, you must believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to save you.
Fourth, you must try the gospel by faith.
I. CONCERNING SALVATION, OUR NEED IS THREE-FOLD.
First, with regard to yesterday, we all need pardon of sins—forgiveness of our past sins. We need our guilt to be removed.
Second, with regard to today, we need purity of life—present acceptance by God. Although our past sins may be forgiven, we still need to be sure that God accepts us right now.
Third, with regard to tomorrow, we need power—the ability to overcome our future temptations to sin.
The statements, “What if I can’t hold out?” and “Maybe I should wait until I know I will no longer sin before I get saved” are often made. Such thoughts indicate that one is futilely and unknowingly trusting in one’s self and is unwilling to believe the gospel.
II. THE GOSPEL IS THE CLEANSING POWER THAT IS ABLE TO MEET OUR THREE-FOLD NEED OF SALVATION.
—Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
“The Gospel of Christ” is that saving power of God that is able to cleanse anyone completely of all past sinful deeds, present sinful condition, and future sinful temptations. In the following passages of Scripture, the Bible teaches that the Gospel cleanses PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE sins.
—Psalm 32:1-2, “Blessed is he whose transgression (rebellion or guilt of the past) is forgiven, whose sin (failure or ruin of the present) is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity (perversion or pollution of the future)....”
God’s Word makes it absolutley clear that, through the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ, He forgives all past rebellion, covers all present failure, and does not impute (charge with) any future perversion for the person He saves.
THE GOSPEL DECLARES THAT GOD, SAVES THE SINNER! CLEANSES THOSE HE SAVES! PROTECTS THOSE HE SAVES!
Concerning the PAST, God says, “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee” (Isaiah 44:22).
Concerning the PRESENT, God says, “. . . him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).
Concerning the FUTURE, God says, “. . . and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20).
God’s emphatic statement that He will take care of all your spiritual need is stated as follows: “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
Since God loved you enough to let His Son Jesus Christ die to pay for all your past, present and future sins, He surely will not stop short of cleansing you of them all right now and of protecting you through your present and future temptations.
If you will repent of all your sins and believe in Jesus Christ alone as your only and sufficient Savior, He will save you right now!
III. FOR YOU TO BE CLEANSED OF YOUR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE SINS, YOU MUST TRY THE GOSPEL BY FAITH ALONE.
There once was a man sick with leprosy who asked the Lord Jesus for cleansing. He wasn’t sure that the Lord really wanted to help him but he thought maybe He would. Therefore, he asked the Lord Jesus, “saying, Lord, if thou wilt, (if you want to) thou canst make me clean.” (Luke 5:12). Christ then said, “I will (I want too): be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him” (Luke 5:13). The leper didn’t have much faith in the goodness of God, but was cleansed (saved) through his weak faith—he took just one small step of faith in Christ.
Although you may not be sure that the Lord Jesus Christ wants to save you, you should dare to ask Him anyway. HE WILL SAVE YOU IMMEDIATELY just like he cleansed the unsure leper!
Once there was another man whose son was demon possessed. He asked Christ to deliver his son, saying, “. . . if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. 23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief” (Mark 9:22-24). That father wasn’t sure that God had the power to deliver his son, but because he believed just slightly and asked God to help him believe, his son was saved.
Just as that man cried out to Christ with a very weak faith and saw his son delivered, you also can be saved immediately even though your faith may be weak. You may even feel that your faith isn’t much more than “unbelief.”
Nevertheless, Christ will save you right now if you will only dare to repent, that is, surrender your life to Him and let Him take all your sins away from you, and if you will just trust Him and ask Him to save you. You can do that if you really want too! It is your decision!
Right now Jesus Christ is waiting to be your Saviour, your Lord and your NEW LIFE. You have not read this message by accident! God loves you so much He has given you this opportunity to learn how THE GOSPEL can CLEANSE away all your past, present, and future sins. Therefore, please pray to Jesus christ RIGHT now and ask Him to take all your sins away and to save you.
